College student Connie offers to tutor football star Ken, a Marine war veteran now attending school on the G.I. Bill. They become friends and he takes her to the prom after arguing with his rich girlfriend Carol. Carol threatens to use her father’s influence to have Carol expelled, but Ken says he’ll quit the football team if that happens. Carol’s father is a big football fan and says Carol is wrong. Ken proposes to Connie.

Ingrid’s elderly father has a heart attack trying to tear down a wall that rich Simon Lessingham built in an attempt to force them to sell their cottage and land to him. Edwin, Simon’s son, tries to make amends to Ingrid and her father. Edwin and Ingrid fall in love. Her father opposes the match but eventually changes his mind. Edwin buys Ingrid’s house before his father can, and says she and her father can continue to live there. He hopes someday he and Ingrid will also live there, as man and wife.
