Aunt Madge; Ed Saunders; Patty; Steve Cauley
Patty moves from Illinois to San Diego to be near her sailor boyfriend Ed. When Patty arrives, his ship is not there: she can’t find a job or a place to stay, and everyone advises her to go home. Steve hires her as a cigarette girl in his Tijuana nightclub. Patty decides to quit when Steve makes a pass at her, but Ed is tipped off to her new job and breaks up with her. Patty can’t leave Mexico because Steve was murdered the night before. Ed gives Patty an alibi and she is free to go. Ed and Patty reconcile.

Reggie is psychiatrist Bruce’s nurse and has a crush on him. She is jealous when Bruce pays attention to his wealthy, married patient Nila. Nila’s husband Monty knows what’s going on, and urges Reggie to “fight for your man!” Monty and Reggie decide to make Bruce and Nila jealous by pretending to have an affair. However, when they’re trapped in a cabin by a storm and Monty makes advances at her, Reggie rejects him. Monty and Reggie return to the city: Nila and Monty reconcile, and Bruce realises he loves Reggie.
