Synopsis: Bank teller Grace, who supports her mother and two young brothers on her salary, accepts a date from wealthy Reid. Grace breaks off their relationship and quits her job after her mother suffers a stroke. Grace refuses to have her mother become a charity patient at the “welfare hospital.” She also turns down gifts from the local woman’s group chaired by Reid’s mother. Grace later gets a job as a waitress in a diner and runs into Reid. Reid’s mother says her group doesn’t offer charity, just a helping hand from “neighbours.” Reid and Grace reconcile.

Synopsis: Jane is disgusted by the men around her mother, famous writer Nedra Wales, because they all want Jane’s assistance in promoting their own writing. Raoul mistakes Jane for Nedra’s secretary and she doesn’t correct him. They fall in love, then Raoul admits he knows Jane’s true identity and she dumps him. Jane takes up with Andre on the rebound, but Nedra points out that Andre is trying to take advantage of her to advance his own literary career. Raoul, on the other hand, loved Jane for herself. Jane and Raoul get back together.
