While exploring a large Kryptonite meteor, Batman finds a rocket with Kryptonian writings on it. Meanwhile, a blonde, super-powered girl speaking Kryptonese wanders through Gotham, accidentally causing mayhem with her unchecked super-powers. She's brought down by Batman and calmed downed by Superman, who learns that she is his cousin Kara.

Kara is brought to Paradise Island for training in her powers and to have her interact with other women. As Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman debate what's best for the girl, the island is attacked by Doomsday constructs. Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman seek Barda's aid in invading Apokolips and rescuing Kara. On Apokolips, the four split up. Soon, Wonder Woman and Barda are captured and Batman is seemingly killed. Superman finds Kara with Darkseid, and she appears to be his willing servant. She then takes down the Man of Steel with three savage strikes.

On Earth, Kara adopts a costume based on Superman's. But Darkseid has his revenge on Superman's parents, and apparently disintegrates Kara when she intervenes.
