Deadman and his friends talk down the crazed Alexi Kronsky. Deadman manages to possess Inga Brand and use her to try to make a body for himself but fails. Mr. Solomon's flunky gets his hands on the helmet, but Deadman and the circus folk stop him, destroying the helmet in the process.

Dr. Fate leads the Justice Society in finding the mastermind behind Bill Jensen's power, Frederic Vaux. Vaux plans to offer the JSA to the nether gods so they might unleash chaos on the Earth and destroy all knowledge of the heroes from the minds of the entire world. But Fate revives and with his comrades, and the power of those dedicated to order, defeats Vaux. With their memories in flux due to Vaux's machinations, Fate is also able to alter the general population's minds so that they believe Bruce Wayne and Batman were two separate persons, restoring Robin's and Huntress' secret identities.
