Tintin and Captain Haddock arrive in Peru hoping to intercept Professor Calculus, but he is spirited into the interior before they can make contact. Local people shun them in fear until they befriend and defend a young Indian boy, who joins them on their journey. In the mountains they encounter a hidden Inca community, and face death until Tintin uses an eclipse to convince the Prince of the Sun to free them.
