Synopsis: Juan, Mátalas y Pedro son tres peregrinos que recorren el Camino de Santiago. Pedro, que en realidad se trata de Cristóbal de Villalón empieza a contar su historia desde que fue esclavo en Turquía. Sirviendo al almirante turco Zinán Bajá se hizo pasar por médico. Cuando Zinán es ascendido a gobernador enfermó de hidropesía y Cristóbal empezó a atenderlo. Favorablemente Zinán mejoró de salud y le otorgó la libertad pero se la retuvo hasta que sane completamente. Muerto Zinán le es negada la libertad y Cristóbal decide huir hacia tierras cristianas llegando después de varias peripecias.
