Teenaged Suzie lives with her widowed mother Jane, who has a “fast” reputation. Suzie dates the older Steve and is caught in a raid on a gambling joint, which gets her in trouble at school. She goes out with him again and Steve is killed in a drunken auto accident. Suzie is arrested but her mother’s boss (and future husband) gets her released in his custody.

Jane moves to the city and flirts with her friend Cathy’s boyfriend Charlie. When they’re caught, she blames him. Cathy dumps Charlie. Cathy accepts Charlie’s explanation but Jane flirts with him again and Cathy feels deceived. She writes a note calling Jane a “Love Pirate!” and tries to commit suicide. In the hospital, Jane apologizes to Cathy, saying she was just acting the way she thought women acted in the big city. She decides to leave town and try to become a better person.

Gilda Davis [Gilda Sands]; Mr. Fenucci; Lucky Passelli; Mark Ellis
Gilda sings in Fenucci’s nightclub and attracts the attention of gangster Lucky. She rejects his advances and runs into newcomer Mark. They fall in love and marry. Mark starts mysteriously vanishing at night and Gilda follows him into town, spotting him with Lucky and several women. Gilda goes back to Fenucci’s club. Lucky is there and Mark comes in. Gilda blurts out that Mark’s her husband and the crooks discover he’s really an FBI agent. Gilda takes a bullet intended for Mark. He captures the gangsters and Gilda will recover.
