Cora hires a safari to take her into the desert with a map she copied from her lost husband, Daniel. They are captured by the Scarlet Knave, believed to be only a legend. The Knave is revealed to be Daniel, who kills her. Rulah kills the knave, more to avenge her friend Tandi than any of the safari.

The prophet alone knew the future, and his forecast was...
A fortune-teller is murdered in New York City. Before he dies, he tells American intelligence agent O'Neil about the foreign agents that stole his medallion and gives him a map. Jackalle and the Prophet have been terrorizing the village with fake prophecies of death, but with the medallion he sees that Jackalle will some day kill him. They fight and kill each other. Jack promises to return, and Rulah tells him the jungle isn't always so exciting.
