White Indian
Dan Brand [White Indian]; Tipi; Chief Red Foot; Sagamaw
Mohawk medicine man Sagamaw concocts a poison to kill the white settlers. He surreptitiously pours some into a goblet through an open window in the home of one of the local settlers. Tipi drinks and passes into the "sleep of death". Dan takes him to the Mohawk camp, where Sagamaw denies knowledge of the antidote but tells of a neighboring shaman who does. Leading the way, he signals some braves to ambush Dan. They manage to gain shelter in a cave, where Sagamaw unwittingly drinks of the poison. He then reveals that the antidote is produced from birch bark, and Dan saves Tipi's life.
