Deadman narrates the story. Dr. McJames steals the Ruby of Khafir and gives it to a hunchback, Nodo, in an old tower. Johnny Double, PI, breaks in and arrests McJames - then consults the Challengers. Corinna hypnotizes McJames and learns he was forced to steal from the museum when his daughter's spirit was captured by Seth Gross, a vengeful ghost. When the Challs fail to stop the ghost Deadman takes over finding out that Gross is only a petty magician who uses astral-projection. Deadman possesses Gross's body and rescues the girl's spirit.
