Los Angeles, twenty-five stories above street level, the Champions' shiny new sky-car begins a 1.5 second out-of-control plunge toward sudden death!
Black Goliath stops the Champions' sky-car from crashing and reveals that he designed the ship. He discovers that the metal used in the construction of the ship was of inferior quality. The Champions, including new ally Darkstar, travel to Arizona and help Hawkeye and the Two-Gun Kid defeat the Warlord Kaa and his Shadow-Aliens. Back in LA, a girl arrives at Champions base carrying a box (formerly belonging to the Stranger) that was stolen from Bill Foster's lab a week ago. The Stilt-Man breaks into Champions HQ looking for the box.
