Shang-Chi and Clive Reston did not die in the collapsed fortress - they snuck aboard Fu Manchu's rocketship. Chi confronts his father. While they talk, Shaka Kharn forgoes his rejuvenation treatment to battle Chi. Without the treatment he is defeated. The controls have been sabotaged: Fu Manchu cannot complete his awful plan. He escapes in a shuttle pod - to drift in space.
