Spider-Man [Peter Parker]; GUESTS: Deborah Whitman; Robbie Robertson; J. Jonah Jameson; VILLAIN: Mesmero; CAMEO FLASHBACK: Gwen Stacy
Mesmero offers Spider-Man four hundred dollars a week if he will agree to make special appearances in his Broadway show. Unfortunately, the drama critic for the Globe hates Mesmero's performance and pans him in the newspaper. Mesmero hypnotizes the unkind reviewer and compels him to wrap himself in chains and jump off the Brooklyn Bridge. Spidey intervenes, which Mesmero sees as tantamount to betrayal. When Spidey shows up for his curtain call, Mesmero tries to kill him in front of a captive audience.
