Arak, Son of Thunder
Arak; Satyricus; Sharizad; Alsind; Josephus
Arak and company make their way to the city of Damaskos, where they (eventually) gain entrance to Abu Jahl's (Alsind's uncle) palace. While regaling Abu Jahl with stories of their recent adventures, the gathered people find themselves confronted by Josephus, the Wandering Jew that Arak met in Rome. Josephus manages to shout out a few ill tidings for Arak before getting skewered by a spear thrown by an assassin. More assassins attack Abu Jahl and his guests, but are outmatched and killed. When the assassins are unmasked, they are revealed to be snake-men, servants of Arak's eternal enemy.

Arak [Bright-Sky-After-Storm]; Running Fawn
Young Arak learns a hard lesson when one of his friends, the girl Running Fawn, dies of an illness. Arak begs his shaman grandfather to go to the land of the dead and bring her back, but the old man tells him that a shaman must respect death as well as life. Arak decides then and there that he wants to be warrior instead of a shaman.
