Synopsis: Despite dire warnings, Ishmael and Queequeg sign aboard the Pequod to sail under Captain Ahab. Obsessed to kill the whale that took his leg, Ahab drives the crew in pursuit of Moby Dick despite sense, safety, appeals to humanity, or the pleadings of first mate Starbuck. The final confrontation kills the whale and destroys the ship. Ishmael alone escapes, and the sea rolls on.
