This is a complete version history of the XOWComics.com site for the year 2014. Other years are available by using the links listed just below.

You can also use the "Calendar Quarters" rollover menu, just below also, to quickly jump to individual periods within the year. With the increased usage of "incremental updates" within the site beginning in late 2012, and increasing signficantly in 2013, we have begun organizing this information now into "posting dates" for individual changes within the site. Version number updates in the site have now decreased meaning though will continue to be tracked.

As of the late summer of 2012, XOWComics.com implemented a system to update the web site more quickly and efficiently with new features and upgrades. These "incremental" updates are what often comprise now the full listing of features in each new version of the site.

You can see quite easily how quickly the site has progressed. Your feedback has driven this success and rapid development!

Added a new View to the Series Detail, Issues Listing page, entitled "Additional Data View". Moved the Page Count, Price, Frequency, and UPC/EAN columns from their previews views to this new view, allowing for greater space for each column being displayed on each view. [posted 20140104]

Added "views" to the Search results page when Issues are being listed. All of the views added are exactly the same as those available on the Series Detail, Issues Listing page: Issues' Search Identification View (i.e. Detailed Data View), Issues' Additional Data View, Issues' Grouping Data View, and Issues' Images View. Obviously, plenty of new sorting options were added to this search result listing to accommodate all of the new columns now available for display. [posted 20140104]

Corrected bug with the Move and Move Up editor tools not respecting the new "Stay on Page" checkbox in the interface. [posted 20140104]

Added tabular Views to the Issue Detail, Content Items Listing pages to encompass almost all Content Item data. Four (4) new Views were added with the existing interface being available now as the default View. [posted 20140107]

Changed editor and user submitted interface for setting Brands and Indicia Publishers in Issues to no longer have the checkbox as the first item in the interface. [posted 20140113]

Added "Tracking Notes" column for Series. This is a text area meant specifically for notes regarding Series continuation and the number of Issues in a Series. Full editor tools support for the new column created and the data is available both on the Series Detail pages and in all Series Listing areas along with the existing Series Notes data. Update Version History section of the site to now organize data from 2013 moving forward (after the posting of v1.5.8 in March, 2013) by calendar quarters. Added new Version History page for 2013. Modified Editor Change Log import routines for full run of integration to now be processed automatically in cycled steps instead of in a single batch. [posted 20140121]

Updated Editor Change Log import routines to bypass unneeded changes during imports (e.g. Issue Images, Brand Images, "extras", etc.); cleaned up some of the log documentation, specifically for skipped columns and skipped ECL rows. [posted 20140121]

Froze imported Brands data at the point of irreversible data corruption from changes outside of XOWComics.com. Changed the import routines to no longer bring in external Brands data, as the external data structure changes make the data useless and unreliable, a problem which will just grow as time progresses. Added SQL function for setting the textual value of the Genre within a specified Content Item. Using this speeds considerably the setting of this data within the site. [posted 20140205]

Made first pass to clean up CSS and CSS usage throughout the site, concentrating on standardizing color usage and establishing a dynamic framework for color usage. Cleaned up many minor display and usage problems involving CSS throughout the site. [posted 20140207]

Rebuilt framework and usage for all of the "page titling" throughout the site. This included how pages are internally titled in the code and how this then handles the building of the actual page title and crumbs in the interface. [posted 20140209]

Move and Move Up editor tools that allowed selection within a Publisher were too problematic with multiple divisions within a single alphabetic letter. Made all Publisher grouping in these tools be purely by a single first alphabetic character. [posted 20140306]

Ran update routine to automatically link Issue Images within Variant Issues to the single Content Item of type Cover in the parent Issue whenever there are no Content Items of type Cover in the Variant Issue and there is only one Content Item of type Cover in the Parent Issue. [posted 20140306]

Removed all CCM, Contextual Content Manager, usages from the interface that already have some other indicator in the interface of action completion. This effectively removed approximately 90% of the CCM calls, with the exception of error condition notifications. [posted 20140307]

Handling of the content is dynamic obviously with the use of the Make Notation tool for Issue Images (available from within the Issue Image rollover menu still for all logged in users). Tweaked the column widths in the listing areas of the Series Detail, Issues Listing views so there would be more space in the Issue Number column (specifically so when Variants are shown is accommodates the width a little better). [posted 20140311]

Increased the default width of all modal windows from 500 pixels to 700 pixels. This makes the editting of textual data for editors much easier as there will be less vertical scrolling necessary for lengthy data. As other tools effected by this change are noticed (it will be purely a cosmetic effect), they will be improved to more gracefully handle the increased width available. [20141119]

Corrected renaming bug in import processes that was removing the index on the Year Ended column for Series. Added index into database again. [20141124]

Added Content Items Positions table to database. Added full library of support functions into site to support new table and functionality to come with this new related attribute to Content Items. Migrated existing data from Content Item Types to now be distributed with the Content Item Positions attribute. All Content Item Types that were positional were set to corresponding values for Content Item Position and the Content Item Type was set to "Illustration" (almost all of these were "Covers", which are mostly "Illutrations"). Reconfigured the Content Item Cover Type Count for Issues to now be a Content Item Cover Position Count. Much code throughout the site was updated to reflect this disposition change, though no data needed to be updated to accommodate it. [20141206]

Ran update routine to change existing Editor Change Log entries that had set Content Item Type values. The rows were intelligently changed to properly reflect whether a change would have been made to Content Item Position, either including or instead; this may have necessitated the creation of addition rows in the Editor Change Log table, but was done to reflect the intent of the origin change made by the volunteer editor at the time the change was made. Removed values for Content Item Types that are now extraneous with the new Content Item Positions attribute being available. [20141206]

Updated all interface throughout the site to now support the Content Items Positions values. Display of Content Items has been changed from "Title [Type]" to "Title [Type on Position]", essentially. [20141206]

Added editor tools for managing the Content Item Position values throughout the site. Listing areas on Issue Detail pages, Edit All pages, etc., have all been updated to supported the editing of this new Content Item attribute. [20141206]

Update the editor tools for adding and cloning Content Items to now allow for the direct setting of not just the Content Item Type but also the new Content Item Position value when the new Content Item is created. [20141206]

Updated Publishers listing returned in Move Up tools for editors throughout the site to properly display country flags for each entry (older WebKit based browsers obviously do not support this functionality). Added 2 letter country designator to the beginning of each listing displayed, after sorting and grouping obviously. [20141217]

Added "More Info" icon to the top-right of all detail pages. This is setup as a rollover menu accessible to all visitors to the site, meant initially to contain, for instance, access to the Attribution History. [20141219]

Removed the Attribution History disclosable area from all of the detail pages. Access to the Attribution History was placed into a modal window accessible from the new More Info rollover menu. [20141219]

Removed My Account preference settings for the default disclosure state for the Attribution History and My Collection areas on detail pages. These preferences are no longer applicable with the movement of these areas to the new More Info rollover menu. [20141219]

When viewing Issue Variants on the Series Detail, Issues Listing page, added visual delineator in the Issue Number column to group together rows that are all within the same "base" Issue (basically, group together the "base" Issue and all of its' Issue Variants). [20141224]
